Canadian singer Tate McRae will be performing at the Palacio Vistalegre Arena on 9 May 2025 as part of her Miss Possessive Tour, presenting her third studio album titled So Close To What, which will be released in February 2025.
Born in 2003 in Calgary (Canada), Tate McRae, whose full name is Tate Rosner McRae, showed from an early age a great interest and talent for both music and dance. She became known when she started dancing competitively, being awarded the prize for Best Dancer in the Mini category at the Dance Awards 2013 in New York (United States).
In 2017, she posted a series of videos showing the songs she had written and recorded in her bedroom. Her first success came with One Day, which notched up more than 30 million views. In 2020, she produced her début EP, All the Things I Never Said, but she truly catapulted to fame with the release of her single You Broke Me First in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 lockdown. This song soon became hugely popular and a mega international hit.
In 2022, she released her first album: I Used to Think I Could Fly, with 13 songs, which went in at number 13 in the US Billboard 200 charts. Tate has found fame not only because of her vocal ability, but also for her emotional and personal lyrics. Her music style has focused on contemporary pop with touches of electronica and R&B.
In December 2023, she released her second album, Think Later, full of upbeat tracks, which led to her first world tour, taking her to Europe, the United Kingdom, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
In 2024, McRae won Artist of the Year and Single of the Year for Greedy at the JUNO Awards, as well as the Rising Star Award at the Global Awards. Her song It’s OK I’m OK also became her highest-charting début in the Billboard 100 charts. Now the artist is back, presenting her third studio album, So Close To What, which will be released on 21 February 2025, as part of the Miss Possessive Tour. In this European leg of the tour, Tate McRae will be supported by New Zealand singer Benee.
