From 11 September to 12 October 2025, Thursday through to Sunday, the prestigious dancer Sara Baras returns with her show at the Teatro Gran Vía, celebrating the 25th anniversary of the creation of her company. An event that pays tribute to the Spanish musician and composer Paco de Lucía (Algeciras, 1947 - Cancun, Mexico, 2014), considered the best flamenco guitarist of all time.
Vuela is a choreographic journey consisting of 15 pieces that revolve around a single word. It is divided into four acts: Wood, on the strength of roots and the intrinsic warmth of being; Sea, about passion, adopting the fluidity of water; Death, exploring human emotions from the depths; and Flying, which is shown as the only way to escape without running, simply being carried away by celebration and joy.
Born in San Fernando (Cádiz) in 1971, Sara Pereyra Baras is a dancer, choreographer, actress and director, considered one of the most eminent professionals of flamenco dance. She first started learning to dance with her mother, Concha Baras, and from there she joined the group Los Niños de la Tertulia Flamenca.
At just 14 years of age, she joined Manuel Morao’s dance troupe and won first prize at the TVE Gente Joven competition. In 1994, she was brought on board by the singer Enrique Morente, then joined the company of Paco Peña, touring Europe, and later participating in the Flamenco Biennial in Seville.
In 1997, she founded her own ensemble, Ballet Flamenco Sara Baras, and presented it at the XXXVII Cante de las Minas Festival. Their great productions include Juana la Loca (winner of three Max awards), Mariana Pineda, Medusa and Sombras. In addition, in 2003 Sara was awarded the National Dance Award, in 2004 she won the Gold Medal of Andalusia and in 2009 she received the Gold Medal of Merit in the Fine Arts.
