On 25 November 2025, Sala Clamores will be welcoming pianist Paul Cornish to the stage, one of the most compelling rising stars of contemporary jazz. Born in Houston and trained at institutions including the USC Thornton School of Music and the prestigious Herbie Hancock Institute of Jazz, Cornish has developed a distinctive style that combines impeccable technique, melodic sensibility and deep emotional expression.
His piano playing is at once contemporary and sophisticated, yet rooted in gospel, soul, R&B, and, of course, jazz tradition. In concert, he can move seamlessly from a delicate solo to a burst of rhythm and harmony, creating a musical journey that captivates from the very first note.
Cornish has performed alongside legends such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Gary Bartz, and Dee Dee Bridgewater, as well as more contemporary artists including Kanye West, Terrace Martin and John Legend, demonstrating his versatility across musical styles.
On stage, he stands out for his natural charisma and ability to communicate with audiences while leading his band. His repertoire blends original compositions with personal interpretations of classic tunes, always leaving room for improvisation and musical dialogue.
