The acclaimed British progressive rock band is back with its Seven Decades world tour, a sound experience that spans its entire history, which will be stopping off at the Teatro Capitol Gran Vía on 13 October. This event is also part of the Summum Concert Series.
On this latest tour, Jethro Tull will review everything from its first chords back in 1968 to the avant-garde force of RökFlöte (2023), in what will be a unique evening full of history, music and emotion. Led by the unmistakable Ian Anderson, each performance will be a tribute to the band's musical legacy, combining progressive rock, folk and classical touches in an immersive show.
Jethro Tull got together at the end of 1967 and is still active, making it one of the longest running rock groups ever. It has always been led by the Scottish singer and flautist Ian Anderson, who also wrote most of the songs. The group's other musicians offer support, with Anderson as the only member who has remained since the band was founded; only the guitarist Martin Barre comes close, having been with the band since the second album.
The band rose to fame in the first half of the 1970s with iconic albums in rock history like Aqualung (1971) and Thick as a Brick (1972), and has become a cult band over time. It was the first band to receive an award in the 1970s for selling more tickets at Madison Square Garden (New York) than any other group.
The band has constantly drawn on eclectic influences from numerous music genres. Now, iconic songs like Cross-Eyed Mary, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath, Thick as a Brick or Songs from the Wood, which took Jethro Tull to worldwide fame, can be heard again live.
