Estela Hojaldre

Opened in 2021, this artisan bakery in the Barrio de las Letras neighbourhood was founded by Estela Gutiérrez, originally from Cantabria, who was awarded second prize in the category Best New Pastry Chef at Madrid Fusión 2021, also winning the award for Best Pastry Chef in Madrid in 2024, and the ACYRE Madrid Award for Best Bakery in 2025. In this bijou bakery, you can enjoy a wide variety of delicious pastries based around a puff pastry recipe made from water, flour and butter.

Located right by the Jesús de Medinaceli Basilica, the bakery is decorated in a charming, retro, art deco style.

Estela Gutierrez previously owned a cafe near Puerta del Sol, Hojaldrería, where her mille-feuille pastries were a huge hit, as were her croissant-based pastries, her puff pastry creations and croissant bread. Her pastries have also been served at restaurants such as Hortensio and Taberna Santerra, among others.
