Led by renowned Peruvian chef Gastón Acurio, this new restaurant opened on 27 March, close to the Azca area and the Santiago Bernabéu stadium, paying homage to Peruvian ceviche and seafood restaurants that serve fresh locally caught fish and celebrate the rich culinary traditions of Peru.
The decor is a fusion of Lima and Madrid. It reinterprets the essence of a classic Lima ceviche and seafood restaurant in a sophisticated space inspired by the sea and nature. Shades of turquoise are tastefully combined with Ovangkol wood and bamboo. The main bar, made out of carved stone, creates the impression that it has been worn smooth by the sea, while the ceviche bar, covered in bluey-green mosaic tiles, recalls the scales of a fish.
Elements such as colonial bamboo shutters, a handmade stone mural and backlit rope ceilings create an interplay of light and shade that transports you to the iconic terrace of La Mar restaurant in Lima.
The restaurant has different spaces designed for all kinds of experiences: a lively bar, an area by the entrance where you can enjoy a bite to eat without a reservation, a cosy VIP section and a large area with tables that are perfect for sharing.
Executive chef Rodrigo Ferrer Aguilar, with more than 15 years’ experience in the industry, heads up the kitchens of La Mar Madrid. The menu offers a carefully curated selection of iconic Peruvian dishes made using the best locally caught fish and traditional techniques. The menu is divided into different sections: from ceviches and tiraditos, which offer freshness and balance, to nigiris that fuse the essences of Peru and Japan. They also serve excellent wok-fried and flame-grilled dishes, culminating with a little touch of irresistible sweetness.
The cocktails they serve here are exceptional, with pisco, the quintessential Peruvian spirit, featuring prominently on the menu, which also includes exclusive creations and iconic cocktails such as a Chilcano and innovative proposals for the most daring, such as Sakura, Hikari Punch or Chōwa.
