Having opened its doors in 1896, this café was a meeting point in the golden age of cafés and literary gatherings for great intellectuals, such as the Machado brothers, Miguel de Unamuno, Emilio Carrere, León Felipe or Rafael Alberti. Under its current owner, Melquíades Álvarez, it has become the restaurant of the Hotel Preciados, although it is still an emblematic place that has been modernised to adapt to the present day.
With an elegant yet simple décor, the establishment stands out for its traditional cuisine with Galician roots and a modern, designer presentation of its dishes, although Madrid’s stew can also be found on the menu, which is served every Thursday.
In addition to the à la carte menu, the restaurant has several set menus at different prices, as well as a wide variety of pintxos and tapas.
